Memorial Day, 2015! This day brings a lot of thought and reflection for me and for many. We remember the members of our armed forces who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country and we also remember loved ones who were not in the military and who are no longer here with us. As a musician and entertainer I am becoming more tuned in to how important music is for all of us and how it can take us to a certain place in time or bring back a memory of a loved one – that special moment with someone when we heard “that” song.
I am humbled to be in a position to play music and, as I grow as a person and musician, I am honored to perform these songs with the knowledge that they mean different things to different people. I take that responsibility very seriously! Saturday night I played “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood during a gig and my nephew was in the audience. He is a Sergeant with the US Army and is in the Special Forces. He is a veteran and I am so proud of him that I could hardly get through the song but it meant so much to me to sing that song and dedicate it to him and all of us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post. God bless you and may God continue to bless the USA!
Happy Memorial Day!
